Internationalization continues | | | Source: Press Office of Eletrobras | | The experience gained in the process of competing for EDP’s 21.35% owned by the Government of Portugal will be very useful for Eletrobras on his way to be an international company, according to Eletrobras President, José da Costa. "During these past months, the professionals engaged in preparing the proposal we presented to EDP and the Portuguese Government improved an expertise that will be very useful in our road towards internationalization," he said, emphasizing the transparency and honesty of the Portuguese Government throughout the entire process.
Despite having been turned down by the Government of Portugal, the Strategic Plan submitted by Eletrobras to EDP was a high-quality material. "Eletrobras presented an excellent proposal, carefully crafted with focus on EDP's growth and on adding value to shareholders. The submitted Strategic Project anticipated joint investments that would consolidate the position of both companies in the international market”, said José da Costa.
Eletrobras President confirmed the continuation of company's internationalization plans, although he does not glimpse another attempt to buy equity stakes overseas for now. "Our Strategic Planning for 2020 aims to the goal of having 10% of our revenues coming from international operations. This goal was not changed and we are confident that we will achieve it", said José da Costa. |
